When Traffic Cones Take Root

6 x 4.5m high modules form an avenue experience, under a motorway bridge, for cyclists using the new Lune Valley Millennium Park cycleway. Inspired, in part, by Robert Mapplethorpe's 'Pistils', the sculpture uses the language of the highway above. By day, fibre optic stamens change from red to amber, to green. By night, the cathedral-like space is transformed by gobo projections reminiscent of stained glass and vaulting.
